Chairman Song Zhiping Addressed 2011 China International Cement Summit

On April 15, 2011 China International Cement Summit was held in Beijing, and the theme was “Collaborative efforts for ensuring health and safety”. Over 300 participants were seen in the event, including the officials from the Ministry of Industry and Information Industry, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the representatives from the CementSustainability Initiatives, the Turkish Cement Association, the Russian Cement Association, China Building Material Federation, China Cement Association and the overseas and domestic cement producers, etc.

President Zhang Renwei from China Building Material Federation, when delivering a speech at the Summit, said in the next 5 years the cement industry would face new challenges and opportunities at the same time. He hoped all the cement producers would base their sustainable growth on their efforts to build a resource-efficient and environment-friendly society. He also said the Federation would focus the attention on promoting the corporate mergers and cultivating the multinationals during the period of the 12th5-year Plan while pushing forward the technological innovations and extending the industrial chain.

President Lei Qianzhi from China Cement Association made an opening speech at the Summit, stating that Year 2010 was the last year of the period of the 11th5-year Plan in which the cement industry made gorgeous accomplishments. In 2011 which kicks off the 12th5-year Plan, the cement industry will continue to readjust the structure, change the economic growth mode and achieve the sustainable development. Lei hoped the Summit would build a platform for the international interchanges on which the participants could discuss how to reduce the cement production cost while contributing to the human health and safety.

Chairman Song Zhiping from CNBM addressed the dinner of the Summit. He first expressed gratitude to the hosts for providing the platform for all the participants to share their opinions and information. Song believed the Summit would promote the healthy development of China’s cement industry. In his speech, Song briefed to the participants about CNBM results in the period of the 11th5-year Plan. According to him, the four major sectors of CNBM made excellent achievements in 2010. The operating revenue of the cement sector was RMB 37.953 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth rate of 62.2%. The operating profit was RMB 6.403 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth rate of 89.2%. The leading positions of CNBM’s the other three main sectors continued to be consolidated. The sales structure continued to be optimized with the rising sales in high-grade cement. At the same time, CNBM steadily pushed forward the consolidation and reorganization, and the technology upgrading projects in Huaihai Region, Southeast China and North China. The production capacity rose from 160 million tons to 200 million tons with the capacity layout optimized. At the conclusion of his speech, Song hoped that all participants could work together to create a sound development pattern for China’s cement industry.
