On the afternoon of June 13, 2011, Yao Yan, President of CNBM and President of China Building Materials Academy, met with the two-person delegation led by Dr. Martin Schneider, chairman of European Cement Association.

Yao Yan expressed her warm greetings to Dr. Schneider for his visit as well as introduced the academy’s history and current development. President Yao said: “As the largest comprehensive research institute in China building materials industry, the China Building Materials Academy has set foot in a wide range of research sectors and built a number of laboratories. Over past years, it has assumed a great number of state-level projects and received strong fund support from the government”. She added: “It is a great honor and a hard-won opportunity for the academy to invite Dr. Schneider, and I hope that both sides can develop a partnership and have mutual exchanges and visits in the future”.

After hearing President Yao’s introduction, Dr. Schneider said that he was glad to visit the China Building Materials Academy and China and Germany had a close partnership regardless of a distance of more than 10,000 kilometers between them. Dr. Schneider pointed out that both sides should hold more cooperation and communication events, and he sincerely invited the academy’s master degree candidates and scientific researchers to have a short-term exchange and visit at the European Cement Study Academy. “We should capitalize on both sides’ strong points to fulfill specific cooperative projects and gradually carry out all-round and in-depth cooperation”, noted he. Thereafter, Dr. Schneider gave an introduction to the European Cement Study Academy’s study fruits, as well as had an exchange on energy-saving and emission reduction issue with the China Building Materials Academy’s technicians.
