From May 15 to 17, the first plenary meeting of Technical Committee TC-TDC of RILEM was held in Beijing. Over 20 domestic and foreign members and representatives, including Professor F. H. Wittmann from Germany, attended the meeting, which was presided over by Yao Yan, President of RILEM TC- TDC, President of China National Building Material Group Corporation and President of China Building Materials Academy.

RILEM TC-TDC was incorporated in Hong Kong in September 2011. It has been the first time for the committee to be chaired by a Chinese when Yao Yan was appointed Chairman of the Technical Committee. The technical committee is focused on the formulation of concrete durability testing methods with the coupling of the environment and load factors. During the four years, the technical committee will lead the laboratories and experts in China, Germany, France, Spain, Japan, the Netherlands, the United States, Canada, South Africa, as well as other countries and regions to carry out studies relevant to the concrete durability under multiple factors and finally propose RILEM-recommended testing methods.

Yao Yan extended welcome and gratitude to the participants and introduced the major issues to be discussed at the meeting and work of the committee in the first year. After that, the experts were divided into two groups to conduct in-depth and detailed discussion over the collection, compilation and editing of literatures concerning the durability of concrete under multiple conditions, and concluded with solutions. It was also determined on the meeting that the first informal working conference would be held in Cape Town, South Africa, in September 2012.
