On August 2nd, 2013 China International Solar Decathlon (CISD) hosted by Chinese National Energy Administration and US Department of Energy, co-hosted by China’s Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and organized by Peking University opened in Datong City, Shanxi Province. The Deputy Director of National Energy Administration Zhang Yuqing attended and addressed at the opening ceremony. China Triumph International Engineering Co., Ltd. (CTIEC), as the co-designer of the joint team of Harbin Institution of Technology and New Jersey Institution of Technology, took part in this competition, fully displaying its capacity for design and integration of solar building on the international arena for photovoltaic building.

CTIEC takes a full participation in the design process of the building and solar energy system created by the joint team of Harbin Institution of Technology and New Jersey Institution of Technology and provides them with the newly and high-effective electrical power generating system of cadmium telluride thin-film solar cell. On the roof of the building, it is installed with the cadmium telluride thin-film solar cell that can generate more than 90 KWh of electricity every day during the competition, which not only completely meets the electricity demands of the building, but also transforms its remaining electricity to the grid. Integrated with a series of energy-saving designs, the work is created as a newly energy-saving building which is both well-functioned and comfortable for living, ushering in an original development model for future civil building. The work won a high praise from Doctor David Danielson, the top manager of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Office of America’s Department of Energy.
