Delegation led by Rio Tinto Iron Ore Asia President Alan Smith visits CBMIE

On February 3, a delegation led by Alan Smith, president of Rio Tinto Iron Ore Asia, visited China National Building Materials Import & Export Corporation (CBMIE). Huang Anzhong, vice president of China National Building Materials Group Corporation (CNBM) and chairman of CBMIE, warmly received and held talks with the delegation.

Huang introduced the development plans and business situation of CNBM and CBMIE, with a focus on the business model transformation of CBMIE's iron ore operations based on the change of the market pattern. He noted that CBMIE will fully employ its resources and advantages to transform from a traditional iron ore trader into an integrated service provider in the iron & steel supply chain. Also, he reviewed the cooperation in recent years with the visitors, and expected the two sides to carry out closer and deeper cooperation on the existing basis over the next few years.

Smith introduced Rio Tinto's current production and operation conditions and production expansion plan, spoke highly of the cooperation results, and expected to further longstanding cooperation with CBMIE. In the talks, the two sides also discussed the development status and trend of the iron ore industry in depth.
